Transformation at Taughannock Falls!

Watch this episode (#103) of Walk in the Park online here (below) or on Ithaca area Time Warner Cable TV channels 13 and 97.3: this Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM, and finally Tuesday, May 12, at 8 PM

This time, we visit Taughannock Falls State Park on the west shore of Cayuga Lake for a ground breaking ceremony where NYS Parks is spending $1.9 million to dramatically improve the overlook at Taughannock Falls near Trumansburg and Ithaca, NY. NY State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey explains how this project is part of Governor Cuomo’s New York Parks 2020 program to fix and improve long-neglected infrastructure in New York state parks.

Then we go to Robert H. Treman State Park near Ithaca, NY for I Love My Park Day on May 2. More than 60 volunteers plant trees, install signs, and paint campsite posts in the new campground loop. I Love My Park Day was sponsored and coordinated by Parks and Trails New York and New York State Parks and occurred in parks all over New York. The event at Robert H. Treman State Park was hosted by the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park.

Next, we look at a quick survey of some of the amazing spring wildflowers in our woods!

Finally, we visit Watkins Glen State Park in Schuyler County near Seneca Lake and look at the gorge and waterfalls on Sunday, May 3.
