We continue our story in this presentation offered on March 30 by the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park. In our previous episode (72), Josh Teeter of the Finger Lakes State Parks led us through the history of the CCC at Robert H. Treman, Buttermilk Falls, and Watkins Glen State Parks. In this episode (73), he concludes his story about the CCC in the Great Depression at Taughannock Falls, Newtown Battlefield, Fillmore Glen, and Fair Haven Beach State Parks. We also take a quick tour of the CCC trail and exhibits in the Old Mill at Robert H. Treman State Park near Ithaca, NY. See more of our episodes of Walk in the Park.

The Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park offered this public presentation at Kendal of Ithaca, NY on March 30, 2014, by Josh Teeter, environmental educator for the Finger Lakes State Parks region. Mr. Teeter explains what CCC camps were in our area parks and what they accomplished. This is the first part of his talk, in episode 72 of Walk in the Park, a public access TV series in Ithaca, NY provided by Owl Gorge Productions. See more of our episodes of Walk in the Park. In this part, Josh takes us to Robert H. Treman, Watkins Glen, and Buttermilk Falls State Parks. In part 2 next week, we’ll go to Taughannock Falls and other state parks in the Finger Lakes region.

Recorded 9/26/12 at PEGASYS studios in Ithaca, NY. This week we go to Cornell Plantations for the annual March for the Animals of the SPCA of Tompkins County, a big success despite the pouring rain. Then we sail out on Cayuga Lake at dusk, hike around Lucifer Falls in Robert H. Treman State Park; visit the Old Mill and the archeology sites of the Hamlet of Enfield Falls and the CCC camp in the upper park; check out a pretty waterfall in Buttermilk Falls State Park, and discover zig zag goldenrod along the Gorge Trail there.
